Shuchita Sonalika

Chief Operating Officer

Shuchita Sonalika is the first Chief Operating Officer of the Canada-India Business Council (C-IBC), where she leads operations, partnerships, member engagement, and will develop the Council’s new India office to strengthen the Canada-India economic relationship.

She joins C-IBC after nearly 18 years with the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), India's premier business association, where she most recently served as Director and Head – North America, based in Washington, DC. In that role, she led CII's engagement across the United States and Canada, advancing bilateral trade, investment, and policy dialogue through CEO forums, business delegations, government engagement, strategic partnerships, and cross-sector initiatives.

Earlier in her career, she headed CII's operations in the United Kingdom from London, strengthening economic ties between the UK and India. She began her CII career at the organization's headquarters in New Delhi in 2009, where she led operations before moving into international roles.

Her contributions to economic diplomacy have been recognized with a Lifetime Achievement Award from AmeriCorps and the Office of the President of the United States, a place among the 100 Most Influential in UK–India Relations, the Trade Champion of the Year Award, and the Influential Women Recognition. She has also led the development of several flagship reports on the economic contributions of Indian companies in the US, Canada, and the UK. Beyond her professional work, she has always been active in her local community and passionate about community development, sustainability, education, and the arts.

She holds a Bachelor of Science in International Business from the Robert H. Smith School of Business and a Master of Public Policy from the University of Maryland, College Park.
