Canada-India Business Council to Host Second Annual Western Canada-India Leaders Summit
Regina, Saskatchewan – May 28, 2026 – The Canada-India Business Council (C IBC) is proud to announce that the second annual Western Canada-India Leaders Summit will convene in Regina, Saskatchewan on May 29, 2026. The Summit will bring together over 100 senior business executives, government officials, and post-secondary leaders–including both countries' High Commissioners–for high-level dialogue on one of the world's most compelling bilateral trade relationships.
The Summit builds on the momentum of the official Canadian visit of The Honourable Piyush Goyal, India's Union Minister of Commerce and Industry, who has engaged in high-level government meetings and roundtable discussions with Canadian business leaders over the past two days.
The timing is significant. As Canada accelerates trade diversification beyond traditional partners, India, projected to become the world's third-largest economy within the decade, represents a generational commercial opportunity, particularly for Western Canada.
This year's Summit Chair is The Honourable Scott Moe, Premier of Saskatchewan, whose province sits at the very centre of the Canada-India trade corridor. "Over the past decade, Saskatchewan's relationship with India has grown from a matter of necessity, into one of mutual respect and trust," Premier Moe said. "Our relationship is a shining example of how trade and commerce can bring two jurisdictions on opposite sides of the world closer together. Whether it is trade, labour recruitment, research and development or even cultural exchange, India makes Saskatchewan stronger."
Delegates will convene across three thematic areas: energy security and critical minerals; agri-food supply chains, where Western Canada's strengths in pulses, canola, and wheat align with India's food security priorities; and higher education and workforce development, including student mobility, applied research, and bilateral talent pipelines.
